Just A Minute… in October

❧ Reading… Sweet Poison, Why Sugar Makes Us Fat by David Gillespie.
"There may be a drier and more incomprehensible area of science than biochemistry, but so far I haven't come across it" His words, not mine but I find myself agreeing wholeheartedly. Most of the time I feel like I'm studying unsuccessfully to be an endocrinologist (despite it being written in layman's terms) although now and then I do have the respective Ah-Ha! moments so at least the overall message is coming through loud and clear, even to my dull little brain cells.
I'm trying really hard to absorb the technical info fully but I've always been hopelessly dense when it comes to retaining anything maths or science related.
Ambs, my hats off to you mate! Compared to me, those girls in the back row look like experts…

❧ Making… Sugar Free Meals.
It's basically like being diabetic only stricter.
Since I already have a predisposition to developing the condition thanks to my family history and my PCOS (yet another happy side effect), I figured reading the book above was timely.
You'd be amazed at how much of the sweet stuff is sneakily hiding behind fat free labels and synthetic replicas.

❧ Watching… my tan slowly fade and peel away.
Haven't had much time for TV of late but I do miss LA & NY Ink. Kat Von D is dopier than she looks which was a surprise.
It was nice having cable up in Cairns.

❧ Craving… a tattoo or a new piercing.
Maybe I just got carried away with all the "Ink shows but I definitely want to get my first one very soon.

❧ Listening to... my Beach Side Playlist and trying to extend the holiday feeling for as long as I can.

❧ Planning… Next years Halloween Party.
Sadly I missed the boat this year by being too disorganised but as soon as this years event is over I'm set to clean up at the clearance sales.
No more excuses - I will have my time in the sun or in this case moonlight.

❧ Loving… The prospect of a long weekend.
The Melbourne Cup is set to strike this Tuesday so after my hectic lead up (waxing, spray tans and manicures up to the eyeballs) it'll be nice to have a few days of nothingness lined up.

A Proper Minute… in September

Two takes of the same view remind me,
It's all about perception.

Playing Just a min… all alone today so won't be linking up anywhere.
Still I think it's a nice way to reflect on what's been going on each month and on some of the more subtle changes that occur.
I always get asked how I've been and what's been happening only to say not much or not a lot while feeling a bit sad that my life plans aren't rolling along as quickly as I'd like them to be.
I do have a tendency to focus on the bigger milestones in life rather than taking time to notice the finer details such as these:

Making… Money. Its been a madhouse around here with 10-12hr days over the past few weeks. With nicer weather comes the realisation we can no longer hide our hairy legs and ratty nails behind bulky clothes and gloves.
Watching… Breaking Bad season 4, this show is all kinds of suspense and drama and has me up till the wee hours of the morning watching "just one more episode". I'm so hooked!
Reading... I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell by Tucker Max, I read this wanting to know what all the fuss was about. At one stage during some of his accounts I had to ask myself; 'do guys like this really exist?' before realising, "of coarse they do", in fact I actually know a fair few of them… if only they'd let me tell their stories.
Listening… to various bloggers choice tracks - this is my favourite way of finding great music and getting to know peoples musical taste at the same time. Gems of the moment are Video Games & Blue Jeans by Lana Del Rey, after being reminded of her thanks to the lovely Miss Amber Lee.
Still sussing out the rest of her stuff but for now those two songs are on repeat in my mind.
Playing… with Poladroid as featured above.
Loving… collapsing onto the couch in my hubbys arms after a long day.
Looking forward… to relaxing in Trinity Beach. Can't wait to recharge these ol' batteries. I'm sure I must run on solar energy.

Taking part in Just a minute is my way of stopping to smell the roses when I've been spending far too long focusing on the manure  ; )

Just a mini minute in…. September: The Sky's the Limit!

This last one is just a glimpse of the world
through the eyes of my Orotons… more to come...

I know we're only half way through but I missed out in August
so here I go...
Over the next few months I have lots to anticipate.

❥We finally booked our belated pre-honeymoon (consolation prize) for 3 weeks time - Cairns, Palm Cove &Trinity Beach here we come!

❥I have my first BIG night out in eeeeeons coming up in just 2 weeks time for Miss Jessica's Blinged out B'Day… I advise all to stay out of the Melbourne metropolitan area for fear of being blinded by the guests resembling disco balls, (I'm assuming that's what being "blinged out" means, doesn't it?)...
- stay tuned for tales of drunken debacles and the hilarity that ensues.

❥Throwing my first Halloween party - I reeeally, really, reeally want to have one this year. Really.

❥My favourite time of the year Christmas is just 95 days away - can you believe it?!

❥Staying positive that this longed for baby will be on it's way in the new year xx

Just a Minute in... July

I first saw this beautiful meme through Daydream Lily and then again with Anna of Much Love a few days later and just had to join in.
So I waited ever so patiently till the end of the month to give you Just a Minute... In July.
I'd love to hear about your minute in July so go ahead and click the link if you'd like to play along :)

Watching... Sons of Anarchy seasons 1-3. My hubby gets in these mini series marathon moods and suddenly I find myself addicted to shows I never thought I'd be remotely interested in.

Listening... to Adele's album 21. Every song on there has me trying to mimic her till I'm hoarse. I'm sure I look like a right ass singing my little heart out alongside traffic but I just can't help myself.

Reading... Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger as well as The Slap by Christos Tsiolkas. While the first is a poignant literary classic that grew on me the further I got into it I still have to say I found the style of writing a little hard to get into. It didn't draw me in but I was determined to finish it and I'm glad that I did. The second has had me on the verge of insomnia since I first picked it up. A much better read. But that's just me.

Making... my nephews happy by spending every spare minute and day off by their sides. I'm completely at their disposal leaving a million tasks undone but I figure they'll be gone in another week and my chores will still be here waiting.

Loving... Spooning with my hubby and cuddles with Oscar. That's one good thing about winter - plenty of excuses to spontaneously snuggle.

Completing... Dry July! Hoooray for me. So proud of myself for going a whole month without giving in to my impulses (besides using my Golden Ticket at the Love is Here launch but even then I think I only had around 4 glasses of wine throughout the whole night including at dinner.)

Planning... to try my hand at making home made soy candles. I hear they're really easy to do at home and thankfully its simple to clean up after. If I make a mega mess (as I always do) they clean off with soap and water. It seems like a fun little project and it'll be a nice distraction once my sister and her beautiful cherubs go back to Penang leaving me with heaps of spare time. Just as soon as I catch up on my backlog of crappy tasks of coarse.

So tell me, what have you all been getting up to this month?
Hope it's been a good one xx
